Rising pop vocalist Spencer Ludwig is premiering the music video for "Honeymoon," a tropical-tinged track about the breakdown of a relationship after the "honeymoon period," which refers to the beginning excitement and happiness of a new relationship.

"'Honeymoon' was written in the midst of a relationship that was falling apart. It started off like most relationships, easy and fun, until we hit a rough patch," Ludwig tells Billboard. "'Honeymoon' examines the feelings I had of being at that crossroads when were were faced with the decision to push through or give up."

"Honeymoon" features R&B artists Z and Drü Oliver, who add lift and tension to the final experience.

The video, which was filmed in a variety of characteristic locations in Ludwig's hometown of Los Angeles, brings the viewer into the feeling of being in a relationship that's spiraling out of control with its off-kilter camerawork and rapid shifts between different visual moods and color schemes.

"This video is the result of passion and persistence. Everyone involved gave it their all," Ludwig tells Billboard. "We were working with virtually no budget at all and definitely without permits but it still came together beautifully thanks to everyone’s dedication to making something great. I couldn't be more proud of this production and it wouldn't have been possible without my incredible team of creatives from Mexico City, directors JJ Cortes and Herminio Tovar and art director Ivania Hum. This is now our second official music video that we've worked on together (the first being 'My Trumpet') and I am excited and inspired to continue working and growing with them."

The video for "My Trumpet" was released in August in a busy year for the former Capital Cities instrumentalist, who was named one of YouTube's Artists in Residence and took his music to high-profile live performances and video games.
