The Detroit-born producer also announces a handful of fall tour dates.

Indie-electronic producer ayokay is ready to hit you in the feels with his latest video. The visual for "Sleepless Nights," premiering on Billboard today (Sept. 12), follows a man as memories of a past relationship haunt him on a night drive through Los Angeles. But while the heartbreak is eerily relatable, ayokay wants fans to know there's more to the pain in the video than meets the eye.

“In the music video for 'Sleepless Nights,' I wanted to create an aesthetic that would represent the tone and emotion of my new album as a whole," ayokay (born Alex O’Neill) tells Billboard. "The video follows a man plagued by memories of the past as he goes on a reflective nighttime drive. In doing so, he passes by all the landmarks used in the artworks for each single from the album. The video represents the experiences that shape us and the ways we come to relive them.”

The album ayokay is referring to is In the Shape of a Dream, which arrived on Aug. 31 and marks his first full-length album. "Sleepless Nights," is just one of the many collaborations the producer scored for his first LP: Along with indie-rock band Nightly on this track, ayokay recruited fellow Detroit native (and frequent collaborator) Quinn XCII, Future Jr., Jeremy Zucker, Jenny Mayhem and Katie Pearlman. Each song on the 10-track album is as evocative as it is danceable, making for a collection of tunes that are as captivating as the first video from the set.

ayokay will be bringing "Sleepless Nights" and other In the Shape of a Dream tracks in a handful of cities around the country this fall, as the producer is hitting the road for a small tour. Check out the "Sleepless Nights" video and ayokay's tour dates below.
