Fans around the world will be gathering on Wednesday (Aug. 29) to party for Michael Jackson's Diamond Celebration, marking what would have been the King of Pop's 60th birthday with music, dance and a brand new remix of MJ's greatest hits from Mark Ronson. The super-producer has teamed with Sony Music and the Jackson Estate to release "Michael Jackson x Mark Ronson: Diamonds Are Invincible," a five-minute mega-mix of some of Jackson's most iconic hits, from "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" and "Wanna Be Starting Something" to "Billie Jean," "Smooth Criminal," "Human Nature," "You Rock My World" and "The Way You Make Me Feel."
"It was such an amazing, awe-inspiring and insanely intimidating task to put this together, although you’d need hours and hours to fit all of Michael’s classic tunes into one track," Ronson said in a statement. "I wanted this to feel like being on the dancefloor at a sweaty, wild NYC club getting down to as much MJ as possible in five minutes. And I can’t wait for you to all hear the extended version coming soon."
The remix is just part of a suite of celebrations planned for the milestone birthday, including a special performance of the Michael Jackson ONE Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas on Wednesday night and a celebration at the Daylight Beach Club at Mandalay Bay that is slated to feature appearances by Jackson's children Paris and Prince, as well as brothers Jackie and Tito and celebs including Gabrielle Union, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashlee Simpson Ross, Evan Ross and Blake Griffin, among others.
