Regina Spektor performs on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Aug. 6, 2018.

Indie pop singer-songwriter Regina Spektor stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday night (Aug. 6) in support of her summer tour and gave a chilling performance of her song "Samson" for the first time ever on television.

After Colbert introduced Spektor, the singer appeared alone on stage armed only with her trusty piano to perform the powerful 2002 song, which mixes beautiful chords and touching lyrics depicting the biblical tale of Samson and Delilah.

Her vulnerable voice soared from note to note singing lines like, I cut his hair myself one night / A pair of dull scissors and the yellow light / And he told me that I'd done alright," poignantly balancing the mythical and the mundane, referencing alternately the Bible's crashing columns and Wonder Bread.

Catch out Spektor's remaining tour dates and her full performance of "Samson" below.
