Goody Grace and Jesse Rutherford

Canadian singer-songwriter Goody Grace has teamed up with The Neighbourhood's Jesse Rutherford to deliver a deliciously hazy collaboration, premiering exclusively on Billboard today (July 26).

Since moving to Los Angeles in 2014 from the tiny town of Selkirk, Grace has been on the move, going from couch surfing to headlining sold-out shows and averaging more than 800K monthly listeners on Spotify. His rise can be credited to a signature “cinematic” style, encompassing pop, punk, hip-hop, and folk and nodding to influences as diverse as David Lynch, Danzig, Morrissey, and Watchmen.

As his fan base grew and he rose through the ranks of the LA music scene, Grace had the opportunity to collaborate with Rutherford after meeting him at a party and singing his song "Memorie$." From there, their partnership created the now-studio-produced version of the track, which now has more than a million views on YouTube.

The video for Grace's latest single "Too High" reunites Rutherford and Grace, and is a combination of the smooth and slick black and white aesthetic of The Neighbourhood and Grace's smoky vocals.

"'Too High'' is a '50s-style song reminiscent of The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly," Grace tells Billboard via email. "It started with the guitar progression and Jesse and I messing around singing over the top of it until we had the whole song done. Jesse has been a great friend of mine since I first moved to Los Angeles, and I’m super thankful for him and even more excited to release our second collaboration together.”

The "Two Shots" singer is also set to go on tour with popstar Anne-Marie across the U.S. starting later this summer. “Anything is possible,” he adds. “I came from a super small town and moved to L.A. and was able to live my dream. It’s proof that possibilities are infinite. I hope everyone takes that from my music.”
