Ivory Layne Shares Colorful New Music Video For 'Committed': Exclusive Premiere
Rising Nashville singer Ivory Layne -- who is signed to Justin Timberlake's artist development company, Villa40 -- is excited to share her new music video for "Committed," exclusively via Billboard today (June 26).
Layne may be a young star, but her sound and aesthetic is drenched with nostalgia. While teaching herself music production and honing in on her song writing skills, Layne would work from her bedroom and post her demos and progress online.
She caught the attention of Grammy award-winning producer Ed Cash in 2011 and together they wrote, produced, and released her first EP, Volume One, in 2013. Shortly after that, Layne moved from her hometown of Denver, NC to Nashville to grow as an artist and further her career. Her creative lyrics and unmistakable musicality got her signed with LBK Entertainment where she got to write with other top Nashville songwriters like Jimmy Robbins, Shane McAnally, and Lori McKenna.
Her quick wit in the writing room landed her two international ad campaigns featuring her 2014 EP title track, "Something's Gonna Happen," which gave her the chance to work with artists like Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness.
Between all of her own projects and her co-write projects, Layne also was able to sing on numerous other projects like Needtobreathe's single, "Brother."
It wasn't long until Layne's versatile skill set and smooth vocals drew the attention of music icon Justin Timberlake, who immediatley signed Layne to his artist development company Villa40. Since then, Layne has been working hard at creating her next project, taking inspiration from her influences like Peter Gabriel, Annie Lennox, Coldplay, and Imogen Heap, while making it her own by putting a unique and refreshing twist on the sound.
"Written in Nashville and produced in London, 'Committed' is a combination of my favorite 80's synths and cheeky, honest lyrics," Layne tells Billboard. "Naturally, my hope was to bring those vibrant, nostalgic elements to the screen. I had the honor of working with an all-female team of Nashville creatives to whip up something both empowering and playful, and I'm thrilled to be able to share it with the world!"
