Janelle Monae Reigned As 'Django Jane' For Her Performance at the BET Awards 2018

Janelle Monáe's Dirty Computer has the range -- and so did her performance at the 2018 BET Awards, which paired two distinct vibes from her latest album for one regal performance.

In a black, white and red all over head-to-toe ensemble and accompanied by a small army of dancers sporting a similar look, Monáe started rhyming through "Django Jane" from a throne, a familiar image lifted from the captivating music video for the track.

"Django Jane," one of the first songs we heard off Dirty Computer, showcased her strength as a rapper while getting unforgettable lyrics stuck in our heads ("let the vagina have a monologue," for one) and was a fitting choice for the BETs, where Monáe is a contender for the BET Her Award.

But "Django Jane" is only a glimpse of what Monáe can do, and "I Like It" brought some pop balance to the proceedings, with Monáe hitting the stairs to sit among her dancers while singing through the empowering anthem.

Watch Monáe belt out "Django Jane" and "I Like It" below.
