Gorillaz Release Slow-Burning Track 'Fire Flies': Listen

After the release of the funkadelic “Humility,” Gorillaz have dropped another track from their upcoming album THE NOW NOW called “Fire Flies” today (June 14).

The single is a darker, wobblier track that finds Damon Albarn’s voice rumbling through thick bass and heavy 808s. The track succumbs to its own weight about halfway through, and morphs into a cloudy, psychedelic instrumental that drifts off in its final moments into electronic twinkles and wurrs.

Gorillaz recently performed four new songs from the upcoming LP at the Rock Im Park Festival; “Tranz,” “Magic City,” “Souk Eye” and “Sorcererz” were all just as experimental and electro-infused as "Fire Flies."

The group also announced the lineup for their annual Demon Dayz Festival, with headliners Erykah Badu, The Internet and DRAM set to perform. The band is currently on tour in Europe, and is set to return to the states starting in October.
