Jason Silberman, L, Father John Misty and Lana Del Rey attends 35th Annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on April 23, 2018 in Beverly Hills, CA.

Father John Misty loves Lana Del Rey. He affirmed his admiration for the sultry songstress by not only presenting her with the Global Impact Award at Monday's (Apr. 23) ASCAP Pop Music Awards, but by putting his quintessential folksy flair on a cover of her 2012 tune "Ride" for the show's audience.

He traded the track's driving piano in exchange for his acoustic guitar, eliciting a fitting result and a humbled slow-clap of approval from the original artist.

"It strikes me as vaguely ironic to give a songwriting award to someone who just seems to effortlessly radiate songs, but I know how hard you work," Misty said in his heartfelt post-performance speech. "You could take all the crack songwriters and put them in a bunker for a thousand years and they would not come up with 'Fucked My Way [Up] To The Top' ever, which I think will go down as the greatest song title of all time."

The love is mutual; in her acceptance speech, Del Rey mentioned Misty is one of her "favorite artists." She also featured the bearded former Fleet Foxes member in her slow-motion music video for "Freak" in 2016.

As for a duet between the pair, fans are still waiting. In the meantime, Misty's fourth studio album God's Favorite Customer is scheduled to arrive this June.
