Coming off the Easter adaptation of Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert for NBC, John Legend wasted no time before getting back to what he does best. The crooner released his latest single, “A Good Night” early Friday morning (Apr. 6.) The song features BloodPop and is a funky disco-infused track about Legend meeting his wife one night at the club.

“When I looked in your eyes and they went through me like a knife… I can’t think when you’re looking like that,” Legend sings, adding “I think I just met my wife.” Legend's smooth, silky voice is perfectly  complimented by BloodPop’s tight production. “Your spring bop has arrived,” Legend said via Twitter. According to a press release, the visual accompaniment to the single was filmed entirely in Google Pixel 2 by director Mishka Kornai, and features cameos from Insecure's Jay Ellis, Grown-ish's Yara Shahidi and Susan Kelechi Watson from This is Us.

With a newly married couple featured on the single's cover art, it’s safe to say Legend has a particular demographic in mind for this song. With additional writing credits from Sasha Sloan and Raye, this jam is destined to make sparks fly.
