The Naked and Famous Reveal Departure of Two Members, Drop Nostalgia-Filled Video For Stripped Version of 'Young Blood'

As they round out a decade in the music industry, The Naked and Famous are taking on a completely new look. The group will be continuing without two of their founding members -- Aaron Short and Jesse Wood -- leaving co-vocalists Thom Powers, Alisa Xayalith and David Beadle as a musical trio all on their own. To mark the occasion, the three have dropped a video for the stripped-down version of their hit “Young Blood.”

For the visual -- directed by Morgan Freed -- the remaining members sit serenely back-to-back in all-white, leaving archived clips of the band to play through a tired TV set, standing as the the true centerpiece of the video. As for the departure, Powers says the video is an ode to the band’s past, meant for both the fans and the band members themselves.

“Alisa and I have been releasing music as The Naked And Famous for ten years," he tells Billboard. "Now we farewell Aaron Short and Jesse Wood, who have both decided to pursue new life-paths. We’re all still friends, and will miss them dearly. And, finally, we are comfortable performing acoustic versions. This video is for the fans who’ve been with us since the beginning, but in some ways... [we] made it for ourselves. It’s a nostalgic personal milestone.”

The stripped-down version of the formerly very pop hit is a cut from the upcoming A Still Heart, which will be a compilation of acoustic renditions of the band's biggest songs, and is set to drop Friday (March 9). The Naked and Famous will tour behind the unplugged album, beginning in Santa Ana, California on Thursday (March 8th), and continuing with a string of widely sold out performances across the west coast until the end of the month.
