Takeover Tuesday: COIN Share Their Favorite Indie-Pop Anthems

Hunter Airheart

Welcome back to Takeover Tuesday, where each week Billboard taps chart-topping artists and taste-makers to compile their very own playlist exclusive to Billboard's Spotify account. We give the artists free reign to base the list on whatever subject they choose. The only rule? Make it as creative and unique to them as possible.

Nashville-based indie pop band COIN kick off the final leg of their North American tour today (March 6) in Arizona, and have given Billboard an exclusive look at what jams they have been listening to while prepping for tour.

The band is known for their upbeat, guitar-fueled songs, so it’s no surprise their favorites include some of the same. "Over the past few years of being in COIN, each of these songs has so perfectly depicted where I am in my life,” lead singer Chase Lawrence told Billboard. “These are my once, current and always anthems."

Their picks include “The Reeling,” a synth-Heavy track from Passion Pit, the fun rock track “These Days” from Dr. Dog and “Monsoon,” a dreamy slow jam from Hippo Campus. The group also added the beautifully heart-breaking song “Two Doves” from Dirty Projectors, and Sufjan Stevens’ triumphant electronic track, “Too Much.”
