AJR Throw an Epic House Party in New Collab Video With Original Penguin: Premiere
New York pop group AJR just dropped a video for “Come Hang Out” in a new collaboration with clothing brand Original Penguin.
The song, off of their 2016 EP What Everyone’s Thinking, is a carefree indie-pop anthem, and the party-centric video follows the same theme. But while the trio is surrounded by flowing drinks, neon lights and a giant pizza, AJR (brothers Adam, Jack and Ryan, hence their acronym name) seemingly find it hard to join in the fun - somewhat indicative of the track's meaning.
As Adam explains to Billboard, “Come Hang Out” is “a series of true stories, all emblematic of what life as a band has been like for over a decade. The internal struggle of priorities in life is made clear in the video, which was a partnership with Original Penguin. Their philosophy of juxtaposing different styles from different decades is representative of both the production and lyrics in this song.”
Original Penguin’s spring collection is named MIXTAPE, and will feature styles based on the ‘80s, ‘90s and 2000s, and the brand recruited AJR to be part of the latest campaign.
“Our concept to throw the ultimate house party was amplified by the opportunity to partner with AJR,” Todd Bernstein, president of Original Penguin, says. “We feel that music is a pillar of the brand, and AJR represents the core values of Original Penguin. We are a brand that stands for fun and for being an original. We are what you wear for the good times.”
The band is headed out on the road this spring to promote their 2017 album The Click. Check out the tour dates here, and the “Come Hang Out” video below.
