A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Demi Lovato's 'Tell Me You Love Me' Video

Demi Lovato released a behind-the-scenes look at her “Tell Me You Love Me” music video on Wednesday (Jan. 17). For the video, Lovato reunited with longtime collaborator, director Mark Pellington, who also directed the “Skyscraper” visual.

In the backstage look, Lovato explains that the concept came about pretty organically: “We thought that it would be great to do something where I was in a wedding dress. That was one of the first ideas that came to mind."

She also gave some insight that may have answered a question fans had after watching the music video. In the clip, Lovato is standing at the altar when her soon-to-be-husband, played by Jesse Williams, takes off his wedding band, claiming “we’re not ready.” He walks away, leaving the bride alone at the front of the aisle.

Fans have argued that the scenes that follow actually show Lovato was the one who walked away, as a sign of strength in leaving the toxic relationship depicted in the video. I

n the new clip, Lovato says, “I thought, ‘What if I was stood up at the altar?’ That ended up making it into the storyline.” But she then confirmed it was still a moment of strength, because, “it really tied the whole thing together where, at the end of the song, I’m looking in the mirror and I’m saying, ‘Everything I need is standing right in front of me, and I know that we will be alright.’”
