Bleachers Release 'Alfie's Song (Not So Typical Love Song)' From 'Love, Simon' Soundtrack: Listen

 Daniel Silbert

Track is first effort from Jack Antonoff following his split from Lena Dunham.

At a little past midnight on Tuesday (Jan. 16), Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff surprised fans by tweeting a link to their latest release titled "Alfie's Song (Not So Typical Love Song)" for the soon-to-be-released soundtrack to the film Love, Simon, which the singer/producer is set to executive produce.

Marking the first solo song to be released by Antonoff since last year’s Gone Now album and his recently announced break up with Girls actress Lena Dunham, the upbeat and catchy love song fits perfectly with the coming of age love story it was crafted for. Love, Simon follows closeted teenager Simon (Nick Robinson), who falls for an anonymous classmate he meets online, and all the craziness and excitement that comes with being young and in love.

Directed by Greg Berlanti (Dawson's Creek, Brothers & Sisters) and written by Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger (This is Us), the movie is based on Becky Albertalli's acclaimed novel, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda and is set to be released by 20th Century Fox on Mar. 16.

Lyrics such as "You'd leave the cities and chase bullet holes / That's actually star light / And in those rare moments you and I were brilliant / We were gonna be alright" perfectly capture the overwhelming rush of young love and fit well on the soundtrack album of the same name where the new song will join other Bleachers hits such as "Wild Heart" and "Rollercoaster," as well as songs by Troye Sivan, Amy SharkBrenton WoodThe 1975 and a long awaited collaboration between Fifth Harmony's Normani Kordei and R&B singer Khalid; the soundtrack drops on Mar. 16.
