What’s wrong with being confident? Nothing at all especially for Demi Lovato who shared a photo of her glowing and looking absolutely stunning on a beach Thursday (Jan. 4) to Instagram.

The singer opened up about the difficulties of recovering from an eating disorder in her post, while also stating that she planned to let go of perfectionism and to embrace the freedom from self-criticism in the new year.

“Learning to love my body the way it is is challenging but life changing," she wrote. "Giving up my eating disorder has been the most challenging journey of my life but I work every day towards solid recovery even if I mess up sometimes. Today I’m feeling strong. You all can do it too. It IS possible,” she said before thanking God for a new chapter in her life.

Lovato, who has previously documented her struggles with an eating disorder in the past, smiled in a stripped one-piece bathing suit in the inspirational post that left one user commenting “I’ve been having a hard time with my ED lately and today I was planning on not eating but this post literally changed my thoughts and I’m gonna go to lunch with my friends. Thank you for constantly helping me.”
