Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast appear onstage at the opening night curtain call for "Hamilton" at the Pantages Theatre on Aug. 16, 2017 in Los Angeles.

A Decemberists-style song about Ben Franklin drops at midnight (Dec. 15).

Lin-Manuel Miranda was one of the first celebs to try out the new Twitter Threads feature to drop some major, major news on Thursday (Dec. 14). The Hamilton creator used the one-year anniversary of the release of The Hamilton Mixtape to announce that the set's long-promised sequel is probably not coming, but he's still determined to provide Hamil-heads with tons of new material over the next year.

"A year ago this month we released The Hamilton Mixtape. It was the culmination of so many dreams come true," he tweeted. "Every artist, every interpretation represented the original impulse I had for this story, even before this thing was a musical. I know I promised you a Hamilton Mixtape Vol. 2, but nothing's gonna match those songs in that order, beautifully sequenced by @jperiodBK, at that moment in December 2016."

However, never one to disappoint his fans, Miranda said he has some "DOPE NEW SH*T" to share. Beginning at midnight (Dec. 15), Miranda will start the roll-out of The Hamildrops, which will bring new Hamilton content every month through Dec. 2018. And the first drop is a doozy.

"'member how I said I once wrote some Decemberists-esque lyrics for a Ben Franklin tune, but never set 'em to music?" he asked. "So I sent the lyrics to [Decemberists leader] @ColinMeloy. He's in @TheDecemberists. And HE set it to music as only he and his crew can. Absolutely blew me away. I weent BACK to write new lyrics for a bridge for him."

Meloy went back to his band to flesh the song out and together with Miranda's lyrics they collectively brought "Ben Franklin's Song" to life.
