Ed Sheeran asks for New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern for citizenship on ZM.

Ed Sheeran was already appointed a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) on the Queen's birthday in his native England, and so clearly it's time for him to choose his next country to rule, his next ruler to win over.

Enter: New Zealand and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

In a video, aired by radio station ZM on Wednesday (Nov. 29) to promote Sheeran's upcoming March and April 2018 shows in New Zealand, Sheeran said, "Hey, New Zealand! I can't wait to see you very soon. I'm not yet a citizen of New Zealand, but I'm working on it. Hook me up, prime minister, please."

Sheeran has previously applied for Kiwi citizenship and admitted that the country is his favorite in the world.

All of this caught the attention of Ardern, who unexpectedly replied to Sheeran via video message (also uploaded by ZM). She had a few pressing questions for Sheeran to prove his loyalty -- a true citizenship test.

"Do you like pineapple lumps? Do you know what they are?"

"Are you willing to wear jandals in inappropriate situations?"

"Do you know what jandals are?"

"Third, most important question of all, are you willing to make New Zealand your home?"

Sheeran has yet to answer Ardern. We can imagine he's somewhere pensively studying her questions, penning answers as convincing as his lyrics.
