Niall Horan Defends His Rap Skills to Louis Tomlinson: 'You Know I Can Spit Bars'

Since the band's hiatus, any interaction among the members of One Direction is enough to send Twitter into a frenzy. Now solo artist Niall Horan reacted to a comment tweeted by Louis Tomlinson, and the fan reactions and GIFs were aplenty Sunday (Nov. 5).

"I like these little Irish lads but enough with the rapping," Tomlinson, who's also been busy releasing his own music, wrote while watching the U.K.'s X Factor Saturday night.

Horan, an Irish lad himself, seemingly took the comment as a personal roast -- though his response was more than likely in jest. To the delight of fans everywhere, on Sunday the singer-songwriter clapped back: "Stop talking about me like that, I’ll rap if I want. You know I can spit bars."

For those who might need a minute to dream up the image of Niall as a rapper, fans were quick to come with visuals.

"Yo MC Niall in the mix," a shirtless Horan announces in one old video with the band, in which he's rapping to "Gangsta's Paradise." Another fan got Niall's point across by posting a GIF of him pretending to knock out Louis onstage.

Later on Sunday, the former bandmates continued their banter on Twitter.

"lad you're forgetting I taught you everything you know #raplife #donnysoldier," Tomlinson wrote back, to which Horan replied, "True dat !! Forgot the Yorkshire lads are known for rap aswell hahaha."

"maybe we should settle this ... 64 bars ?" Tomlinson suggested.

"We're ready," he tweeted alongside a picture of the pair together, decked out in chains and sunglasses. "nice of liam to lend us his chain !!" He added, "dj Tommo is gonna have to make the jump to MC . Exciting times."

Horan then teased: "I knew the day would come . Mixtape coming soon."
