Fergie has been showing her strength over the past month, seeing through the release of her first album in 11 years, Double Dutchess, that quickly followed the announcement of her separation from husband Josh Duhamel. But in a recent clip from her upcoming appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, the Dutchess showed a touching honesty.

In her interview, which will air in full on Thursday, she got visibly teary over the split. She said, “It wasn’t my plan. I wanted to stay married forever.”

The couple separated in February but, their decision was not publicized until last month. Together, they have a 4-year-old son, Axl Jack Duhamel.

"I love Josh, he's the father of my child, we forever have that project together and we're doing the best we can," she told Williams.

Fergie and Duhamel had been married for eight years and dated for five prior to their engagement. September's announcement of their separation was made “to give our family the best opportunity to adjust," the couple said in a statement, adding, "we are and will always be united in our support of each other and our family.”
