Lady Gaga's 'Joanne' Is Certified Platinum

It's her fourth platinum album and news comes a year after 'Joanne' was released.

Lady Gaga's latest album, Joanne, has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), reflecting 1 million equivalent album units earned in the U.S. It’s the diva's fourth platinum-certified album.

Gaga previously reaching the milestone with The Fame Monster, The Fame and Born This Way -- the latter two reaching multi-platinum status.

One equivalent album unit, as recognized by the RIAA, is equal to: one album sale, 10 tracks sold from an album, or 1,500 on-demand audio and/or video streams from an album. The RIAA revamped its Gold & Platinum Awards Program on Feb. 1, 2016, growing from a pure album sales certification process to one that includes tracks and streams.

Joanne was released Oct. 21, 2016, becoming Gaga’s fourth No.1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and a possible contender for the 2018 Grammy Awards. The singer recently announced her rescheduled tour dates after postponing her Joanne World Tour due to severe chronic pain issues.
