Demi Lovato Explores Her Struggles in 'Simply Complicated' Documentary Trailer
Demi Lovato shared an early look at her YouTube-exclusive documentary, Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, on Tuesday (Oct 10), with a trailer that weaves in and out of her rise, struggles and future as both an artist and a person.
“Everything happened so fast,” Demi says in one scene, noting how she shot to stardom as a Disney Channel star in 2008 when she co-starred in Camp Rock with then-teen sensations The Jonas Brothers. “All of a sudden, she had to be this role model, and I don’t think she was ready for that,” said one of the interviewees.
The shot then cuts to Nick Jonas, who says, “And then this episode happened.” He’s referring to the time when Demi punched her backup dancer, Alex Welch, in the face on a plane. ABC News reported that this incident was the turning point that caused Lovato to check into rehab. “I went on a bender of like two months where I was using daily,” Demi says.
But Lovato says she’s been sober for nearly five and a half years. “I’m on a journey to discover what it’s like to be free of all demons,” she elaborates.
Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated will be released Oct. 17. Watch the teaser below.
