Lady Gaga, Hayley Williams and More Spread Awareness for World Mental Health Day
Today (Oct. 10) is World Mental Health Day. In an effort to spread awareness and encourage self-care every day, especially today, artists shared messages on Twitter and Instagram echoing the sentiment that it's okay to not be okay.
Similar to her response to the recent Las Vegas tragedy, Lady Gaga announced that she planned to hold a live meditation session via Instagram in celebration of World Mental Health Day, "to remind us that the world is one body."
On this coming Tuesday the 10th I will be doing another Instagram LIVE meditation in celebration of World Mental Health Day. Please joins me at 4pm PST to meditate/sit quietly/pray/or do any practice of your choosing. My intention is to remind us that the world is one body, and that we are all connected. And the calmer each of us are individually, the calmer the world will be.
Talinda Bennington, wife of Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington, who took his life earlier this year, tweeted her call for a change to mental health culture.

Hayley Williams of Paramore, Marina Diamandis of Marina and the Diamonds, and more artists also advocated for self care and attention to mental health. Read the many Twitter contributions in honor of the day made by musicians, below.

Today on #WorldMentalHealthDay, keep the conversation going. The only way to cement change is to educate. Mental health shouldn’t be taboo.— Emma Blackery (@emmablackery) October 10, 2017
Mental health is just as important as physical health. Feed your soul. Let people in. You're not alone, ever. #WorldMentalHealthDay— Josh Franceschi (@joshmeatsix) October 10, 2017
