Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan of One Direction perform onstage during the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sept. 20, 2014 in Las Vegas.

Harry Styles set the Internet abuzz yesterday (Sept. 11) by releasing an incredible cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic “The Chain” as part of his BBC Live Lounge appearance. The cover came just months after he joined Stevie Nicks this summer onstage for a heart-rending duet on the Mac perennial “Landslide.”

Styles is not the only member of One Direction to tackle covers that are nearly as great as the originals. Here’s a list of the top five best covers by One Direction, group or solo.

“All You Need Is Love” (The Beatles Cover) by One Direction

During their X Factor beginnings, the group covered The Beatles’ iconic song “All You Need Is Love,” winning the praise of all the judges -- including Simon Cowell, who says they “delivered a fantastic, new cover.”

“Issues” (Julia Michaels cover) by Niall Horan

Horan has proven to stand out on his own as a pop star, shining with both acoustic ballads and party-worthy pop songs. His acoustic cover of Julia Michaels’  “Issues” on BBC Radio 1 give a new direction to the emotionally charged hit.

“Ultralight Beam” (Kanye West cover) by Harry Styles

Styles isn’t afraid to tackle a diverse range of genres and in a recent secret show in London, he took on the powerful Kanye West song opener to The Life of Pablo, turning it into his own, more rock-heavy version.

“Torn”  (Natalie Imbruglia/Ednaswap cover) by One Direction

During the first stage of One Direction, the boy band covered “Torn” for Simon Cowell during the Judges’ Houses section of X Factor back in 2010. They later performed the song for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge 2015, showing how much they’ve evolved as a group.

"One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)" (Blondie and The Undertones mashup) by One Direction

Even though it's a cover, this pseudo-mashup remains one of the most memorable 1D songs, matching the energy of the two originals. The song is also paired with a music video featuring the band's tour hijinks, bringing memories of the boy band's seemingly unbreakable bond at the height of their career.
