See Photos of Taylor Swift as a Bridesmaid in Her Best Friend's Wedding
After having one of the biggest weeks of her career, Taylor Swift proved she can still make time for her friends.
The record-smashing singer made a rare public appearance Saturday (Sept. 2) to support the wedding of her longtime best friend, Abigail Anderson, in Martha's Vineyard, Mass.
Dressed in a burgundy floor-length gown, Swift played an important role in the ceremony, carrying the back of her bestie's gown as the bride entered Old Whaling Church in Edgartown to marry photographer Matt Lucier -- see the photo below. The 27-year-old singer's mom, Andrea Swift, also reportedly attended the wedding.
Anderson -- Swift's best friend since high school -- is name-checked in the song "Fifteen" from the 2008 album Fearless: "You sit in class next to a redhead named Abigail/ And soon enough you're best friends/ Laughing at the other girls/ Who think they're so cool/ We'll be out of here as soon as we can ... And Abigail gave everything she had to a boy who changed his mind/ And we both cried."
In the week since the release of <a href="/articles/columns/pop/7941969/taylor-swift-look-what-you-made-me-do-acidic-departure">"Look What You Made Me Do,"</a> Swift's new single set a new global record for the <a href="/articles/columns/pop/7942117/taylor-swift-spotify-global-first-day-record-streams-new-song-look-what-you-made-me-do" target="_blank">most single-day streams on Spotify</a>, and the music video became the most viewed in a 24-hour period on both <a href="/articles/columns/pop/7942367/taylor-swift-look-what-you-made-me-do-video-vevo-record-24-hours-adele" target="_blank">Vevo</a> and <a href="/articles/columns/pop/7949028/taylor-swift-psy-youtube-24-hour-streams-record">YouTube</a>, as did the song's <a href="/articles/columns/pop/7942112/taylor-swift-look-what-you-made-me-do-lyric-video-youtube-record" target="_blank">lyric video</a>.
"Look" also became her <a href="/articles/columns/chart-beat/7949980/taylor-swift-look-what-you-made-me-do-uk-no-1">first U.K. No. 1 single</a> and is expected to debut at No. 1 on <a href="/articles/columns/chart-beat/7949833/taylor-swift-look-what-you-made-me-do-biggest-sales-week">next week's Billboard Hot 100 chart</a> (dated Sept. 16) with the highest weekly sales, and possibly the top streaming total, for any song in 2017.
Swift's sixth studio album, <a href="/articles/columns/pop/7941019/taylor-swift-reputation-new-album">Reputation</a>, is scheduled for Nov. 10 release.
