Fergie Officially Announces Sophomore Album 'Double Dutchess,' Unveils First Two Songs
As if the Twitterverse wasn't blowing up enough with the release of Taylor Swift's new song, another pop star added to the hype with more long-awaited new music: Fergie's second album release is officially on its way.
Talks of a sophomore effort from the former Black Eyed Peas singer have been swirling for years, rumored to be titled Double Dutchess as the follow-up to her 2006 solo debut The Dutchess. Rumors no more, as Fergie revealed on Twitter Friday morning (Aug. 25) that her new album drops Sept. 22 -- and yes, it's titled Double Dutchess.
But after making fans wait more than 10 years to hear new Fergie material, the Dutchess couldn't make such a highly anticipated announcement without offering up some of the new tunes. Fergie shared two tracks promptly after tweeting the album news, the Rick Ross-featuring "Hungry" and "It Takes Two"-sampling "You Already Know" (featuring Nicki Minaj and produced by BEP-mate will.i.am). Both, of course, have plenty of the sass and confidence we've always seen from Fergie, hinting that Double Dutchess was worth the wait.
Along with the new album, Fergie will also be releasing Double Dutchess: Seeing Double, a visual experience to coincide with the record. The film will be shown in iPic® Theaters nationwide on Sept. 20, two days before the album release. Click here to pre-order the album and here for tickets to the visual experience.
