Bruno Mars Finally Meets His Pro Wrestling Namesake

Perhaps you didn't realize that Bruno Mars was born Peter Gene Hernandez. Well, he was and as long as we're having real talk, his stage name was given to him by his bandleader dad when little Pete was a toddler because of his son's alleged resemblance to retired professional wrestling heavyweight champ Bruno Sammartino.

Well, the forces of history collided on Tuesday night (Aug. 22) in Pittsburgh when Mars finally got to meet his professional namesake backstage at a 24K Magic World Tour stop at PPG Paints Arena. "I was nicknamed after this professional wrestler Bruno Sammartino," Mars wrote on Instagram alongside a pic in which he's holding one of Sammartino's championship belts and smiling with big Bruno.

"Tonight in Pittsburgh I had the honor of meeting him!" Check out the proud pic below:
