Pink Set to Receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award At 2017 VMAs

August is shaping up to be quite a month for Pink, who recently announced her seventh album Beautiful Trauma and released its first single, "What About Us." Today (Aug. 15), MTV is announcing that Pink will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2017 Video Music Awards.

That's not all. In addition to notching the award show's highest honor, the 37-year-old "Raise Your Glass" singer will perform live at the Aug 27 event. And ahead of the show, MTV will premiere the music video for Pink's "What About Us" on Wednesday (Aug 16) at 6 p.m. EST.

For Pink, the award marks the latest in a long history of accomplishments. Over her 17-year career, the pop star has snagged three Grammys, two Billboard Music Awards and six MTV Video Music Awards, and was named Billboard's Woman of the Year in 2013. Beautiful Trauma, out Oct. 13, marks Pink's first album since 2012's The Truth About Love.

The first Vanguard awards were presented at the inaugural VMAs in 1984 to David Bowie and The Beatles. Since being renamed to honor Michael Jackson in 1991, the prestigious honor has been awarded to the likes of Madonna, Beyoncé, Guns N' Roses and last year, Rihanna.

The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on Sunday, Aug 27 at 8 p.m. EST.
