Frances Rose is sizing up the dance floor and making some new rules on its latest single “Read My Body," premiering exclusively on Billboard on Friday (July 28).

With a pop tune that would fit into any club playlist, sisters Sarah Frances and Michelle Rose are bringing a fresh perspective to the scene.

“The song is about breaking the molds of gender norms,” the duo tells Billboard. “We always found as women, we were expected to be subtle and wait around to be approached... exuding confidence through body language can be intoxicatingly empowering.”

The impulse to go out on a limb is useful not only when looking for the right dance partner, but also when trying to affect change on a larger scale. It’s this lesson that gives “Read My Body” a deeper meaning beneath the propulsive beat, stomping bass and glimmering synths.

“In society, it's important to have the tenacity to go after something that you believe in and not just wait around for someone to hand it to you,” the band continues. “We wanted to write an uplifting love song about not being afraid to get what you want.”

The duo has succeeded in creating the rare positive dance track that reframes the chase by building rather than degrading. Frances and Rose are your friends telling you to just go for it and friends like that are always welcome at the party.

Frances Rose is gearing up for the release of a debut mixtape later this fall via 169 Music. They’ll be performing next as support for Grace Mitchell on Aug. 2 at the Mercury Lounge in New York. Details can be found on Frances Roses' website here.
