On Drew Vision’s latest project, Shades of Summer, the Queens native’s sights are set on both the past and future.

Blending elements of vintage soul, modern R&B, dance and mainstream pop, the performer-actor-model (real name: Andrew McCreary) is revealing even more sides to himself on his most focused set of songs yet.

Check out the EP below, available everywhere Thursday (June 29):

The project is Drew’s fourth release and undoubtedly his most high-profile. Vision enlisted the guidance of nine-time Grammy winner Bryan-Michael Cox, who executive produced the EP and also shares songwriting credits.

The partnership between the rising star and the man responsible for 35 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits is one that demonstrates mutual growth. Vision sings with a mature confidence that uncovers new depth to the artist, while a reinvigorated Cox is able to deftly explore the modern, moodier R&B landscape. The collaboration, according to Cox, was as cohesive as the finished product suggests.

“This EP came together like magic. The vibe, the writing, the beats and the vocals -- all of the elements were aligned and the songs are fire,” Cox tells Billboard. “I haven’t been this excited about music in a long time.”

The production finds the pair firing on all cylinders, from the dark, edgy opening track “NO DO OVERS” to the classic pop-styled “FEEL THIS WAY” to sensual closer “DEEP WATER.” While running the gamut of genres, Vision makes sure to keep the light, summery swagger that the EP’s title promises intact.

“I wanted to put out a project that celebrated women and the fact that sexiness comes in all shades and shapes,” Vision says. “On top of that, it was a dream come true to collaborate with B. Cox and record in the exact same booth where my favorite album of all time was created: Usher’s Confessions.”

It’s clear that the ambitious Vision has set lofty expectations with the aforementioned multi-talented superstar in mind. However, with a set of chart-ready tracks and a Bryan-Michael Cox assist, Drew Vision is quite literally finding himself standing in the same place.

Shades of Summer is available everywhere now. Catch Drew Vision performing songs from the EP for the Billboard Live series today at 12:30 p.m. ET on the Billboard Facebook page here.
