Nostalgic for the days of boy band mania? ABC has you covered with their new show Boy Band premiering Thursday night (June 22). Featuring host Rita Ora and judges -- called the "architects" -- Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys), Emma Bunton (Spice Girls’ Baby Spice) and Timbaland (producer, songwriter, rapper), aspiring 14 to 24-year-old singers will battle it out to become a member of the next great music sensation.

"The show is all about seeing how the audience will connect with the groups," Carter explained in an exclusive featurette. "Definitely unlike anything you have seen before."

After thousands of auditions for only 18 spots, the singers chosen will be split into boy bands of six and be guided by the industry’s biggest pop titans. During every live show, each group will have their chance to perform before the judges who will then put two contestants up for elimination.

The chosen two will then perform their solo “survival” song to fight to stay in the competition. Who stays and who goes is all up to the voting viewers at home. Each week, the architects will switch up the groups to find the best possible combination of voices. In the finale, five winners will get to perform their brand new single together as a group and receive a recording contract with Hollywood Records.

As for what the judges are looking for, Timbo adds, “Something that is gonna be unique, it’s not going to be the typical boy band. It’s gonna be very unique picks because I’m involved!”

Bunton adds that she's seeking “energy, power, a voice that can harmonize, just something a bit special.”

Tune in to the premiere tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC. Ahead of the two-hour first episode, check out a sneak peak below.
