Handsome Ghost

It's been quite a year for Handsome Ghost, the indie-pop project of singer-songwriter Tim Noyes. Still fresh off the success of 2016's The Brilliant Glow EP, Noyes kicked off 2017 with a cross-country tour to support three new Handsome Ghost singles, working throughout on a forthcoming debut album.

The Boston native shows no signs of slowing down with the stop-motion visual for recent single "Better Off," a track about loving fearlessly and knowing when to let go, premiering today (June 15) on Billboard.

"Some people are so, so hard to move on from and a truly deep connection doesn't ever fully disappear," Noyes tells Billboard. "'Better Off' is about celebrating the experiences you've shared with someone, good and bad, and then saying goodbye. It's an acknowledgment that even great relationships end sometimes, but the feeling remains, no matter what."

What results is a glimmering, acoustic-lined melody that is as raw and heartbreaking and as it is sweetly nostalgic, with Noyes surrendering to his listener, "now that it's over, honey come raise a glass." The track's accompanying visual exudes the same intimate feel -- in fact, Noyes says it depicts an "extended memory" of his own.

"Nick Noyes, my brother, led us around New York's Alphabet City one night taking thousands of photographs. He pieced together over 6,000 of those photos and made the video using stop animation," Noyes says of the new music video. "It was a tedious task, but I think it was effective in creating the feeling we were trying to capture."

You can catch Handsome Ghost performing at the Billboard Hot 100 Festival in August, and look out for the act's still-untitled debut album off Photo Finish Records later this year. For now, tune in to the mesmerizing visual for "Better Off," below.
