Jonas Brothers' Father Kevin Opens Up About Cancer Battle
Kevin Jonas, 52, father of former Jonas Brothers members Nick, Joe and Kevin, has revealed in a new interview that he's been undergoing treatment for colon cancer for the past few months. The elder Jonas told WCNC in Charlotte that he received the diagnosis in March, at which point his children dropped everything they were doing to be by his side.
"They were shaken," he told the station of how his sons -- including "bonus Jonas" Frankie, 16, took the news. "Frankie came home from school, Nick came from L.A., Joe flew directly from Japan... They canceled their schedules, moved important things.” The treatment has taken place at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where Jonas has been surrounded by his family.
“They stayed with us, last meal before surgery,” Kevin Jonas told the station. “They walked me into Sloan Kettering, which created a little bit of a stir.” Though he still has to undergo chemotherapy, Jonas says his prognosis is positive. For now, Kevin Jonas is back in his hometown of Belmont, North Carolina, as he recovers in the town where he and wife Denise opened Nellie’s Southern Kitchen nearly a year ago. “It’s a thrill to be back home,” he said.
