Liam Payne Admits Harry Styles' Solo Material Is 'Not My Sort of Music'
During a chat with Music Choice about his forthcoming material, Payne also commented on what his 1D buds are up to. And after acknowledging how "great" and "cool" Niall Horan's "Slow Hands" is, he admitted something about Harry Styles' "Sign of the Times" that might not make Harry fans too happy.
“I’ll be honest with you, it’s not my sort of music. It’s not something I’d listen to, but I think he did a great job of doing what he wanted to do. That’s the way I’d put it best, I think," Payne said. “I think the funny thing is, [Harry] would say the same thing about me because he doesn’t really listen to hip-hop music, whereas it’s like my song’s more [Tyga's] ‘Rack City’ and his song is more of a different era to something I’d listen to, I guess.”
Judging by the snippet that Payne has teased of his Quavo-featuring new single, "Strip That Down" (and not to mention the provocative title), the 23-year-old is going in more of a hip-hop direction, whereas Styles' self-titled debut album definitely channels old-school, David Bowie-esque rock. The world will get to hear what Payne has in store on May 19, so we'll see what Styles has to say about it.
