Halsey Laments Old Love and Keeps Her 'Eyes Closed' in Latest Single

"If I keep my eyes closed, he feels just like you," sings Halsey on the hook of her new single "Eyes Closed". The song is expected to appear on her upcoming sophomore LP Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, the follow up to 2015's Badlands. The singer premiered the track on Apple Music Beats Radio 1 during an (Baz Luhrman accompanied) interview with Zane Lowe, Thursday, May 4.

After asking her lover if it's "Now or Never," as the album's first single, Halsey has switched gears heading in a more cinematic, ballad route fitting the likes of the ethereal energy of Lana Del Rey and Chvrches. She laments using replacements to get over a past love -- knowing that "he'll [the new mate] never stay, they never do". During the song's chorus breakdowns, the track receives a pop flavoring with an upbeat instrumental that falls in line with electro-soft rock.

Hopeless Fountain Kingdom will be released on June 2. Check out "Eyes Closed" below.
