Madonna Responds to News About Planned Biopic: 'Nobody Knows What I Know and What I Have Seen'
On Monday night (Apr. 24), The Hollywood Reporter announced that Universal had picked up the script to Blond Ambition, a biopic of all-time pop superstar Madonna set in her early career, named after the singer's iconic 1990 world tour. Longtime fans of the music legend may be excited by news of her story being brought to the big screen, but Madge herself isn't thrilled.
"Nobody knows what I know and what I have seen," Madonna wrote today in an Instagram post -- which never mentions Blond Ambition by name but certainly seems to be in response to news of the film's development -- along with a throwback '80s photo of herself. "Only I can tell my story. Anyone else who tries is a charlatan and a fool. Looking for instant gratification without doing the work. This is a disease in our society."
According to THR, the story for Blond Ambition takes place in the early '80s, as Madonna "works on her first album, struggling in a business that treats women badly, while also dealing with a burgeoning love life and the first hints of fame."
A rep for Madonna confirmed her Instagram post was in reference to the unauthorized biopic. See the post below.
