When George Michael unexpectedly died last Christmas, the world mourned, but it hit the LGBTQ community especially hard. While the British pop star didn't come out until later in life, his impact on the community -- even before he was openly gay -- was undeniable.
In homage to Michael, NYC drag mainstay Peppermint and singer-songwriter Ari Gold covered his Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 classic "Too Funky" as a duet. And in honor of the sisterhood of drag, Peppermint and her fellow RuPaul's Drag Race season 9 contestants have recreated the iconic, supermodel-satured "Too Funky" video.
While Michael's video starts out with Mrs. Robinson's immortal "would you like me to seduce you?" quote from The Graduate, Peppermint's video opens Cynthia Lee Fontaine asking the question in Spanish before Sasha Velour, Alexis Michelle, Valentina, Shea Couleé, Charlie Hides, Kimora Blac, Trinity Taylor, Eureka, Farrah Moan, Jaymes Mansfield, Aja and Peppermint herself take the runway flaunting '90s supermodel realness.
