On March 28, Lorde appeared on BBC Radio 1's The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw to discuss the recording process for her upcoming sophomore LP, Melodrama, and to further promote its lead single, "Green Light."

The 20-year-old New Zealander recalled the "mixed responses" she received after premiering "Green Light" to members of her team and inner circle. She called the experience of people responding to new music after three years "stressful."

Trying to have a little fun, the show's DJ, Nick "Grimmy" Grimshaw, brought up Lorde's favorite snack: the Creme Egg. The singer dissed American chocolate that she had during her country's visit to perform on Saturday Night Live, before marveling in the wonders of London's treat. The radio show gifted her with the delicacy, before starting an impromptu parody of "Green Light" -- with lyrics written by Grimshaw himself.

Instead of searching for "that Green Light," the singer was "waiting for it, that Creme Egg!" Backed by the original's instrumental, Lorde finessed her vocals to fit the last-minute lyrics. She was impressed with the songwriting, and gave it her all. Check out the parody below.
