Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan of One Direction perform onstage during the 2014 iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sept. 20, 2014 in Las Vegas.

One Direction's hiatus can't keep the group's members out of the headlines this week, one that brought us the promise of new solo music to the birth of a baby -- and plenty of news chatter in-between. Whether you're a diehard Directioner or a casual fan, here's a handy guide to what went down in the world of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson over the past several days.

Harry's mysterious new single teaser

Several months ago, it was announced that Styles signed a solo recording contract with Columbia Records. Time would tell when he'd deliver his first solo song. That day is finally (almost) here. Saturday evening (March 25), a somewhat cryptic ad aired on TV in the U.K., featuring Styles and promoting the date April 7. While nothing else was divulged via the ad, sources told Billboard that April 7 is the long-awaited release date of the star's debut single.

Liam is officially a dad

He may not be the first member of One Direction to enter parenthood, and his baby may not have a name yet, but the birth of Payne's son on March 22 is a milestone he'll "never forget for the rest of my life and my favourite memory I have so far." The new addition to the One Direction family comes just over a year after Tomlinson's little guy Freddie was born. Hopefully he's given his bandmate some pointers on getting through those sleepless newborn nights!

Zayn hits some major career milestones

Two years ago, Malik split from One Direction. One year ago today (March 25, 2016), he dropped his first solo album, Mind of Mine. And this week, the crooner offered a taste of album No. 2, the trop-pop new song "Still Got Time" ft. PARTYNEXTDOOR, along with a summer release date on the horizon for the sophomore set.

Niall's in the studio, too

If Horan's Snapchat updates are any indication, he was clearly recording new music this week. He shared a snapshot of himself in the studio, as well as a look at some recording studio equipment. September brought the release of his debut single, "This Town," so it's about time fans get a glimpse at what else is to come.

Louis pays tribute to his mother, brings 'Just Hold On' to Ultra

March 25 brought both sad and happy memories to Tomlinson. Earlier in the day, he wished a happy birthday to his late mother, Johannah Deakin, who lost her battle with cancer in December. But Saturday ended on a positive note, with an exhilarating performance of "Just Hold On" with Steve Aoki at Miami's Ultra Music Festival. "Thank you for giving me the confidence to do shit like that!" he tweeted after their set.
