Listen to Robyn's New Song 'Honey' From 'Girls' Final Season
Swedish pop songstress Robyn is a huge fan of HBO’s Girls, since her "Dancing on My Own" was featured on the show's third episode in the very first season, and now the singer is contributing a song to the final season.
“Honey” is an upbeat, synthy tune. Below, it's mixed with dialog from Adam's (Adam Driver) film about Hannah (Lena Dunham), specifically the scene where the eventual couple first meets.
In an Instagram post, Robyn explained that the show’s creator and star, actress Lena Dunham, selected the song from a catalog of music the singer was working on. “It wasn’t ready to be released, but we finished this version for her and Girls,” she wrote.
Robyn then thanked Dunham for the show, which “flips [her] brain like a burger like 15 times every episode.”
After Lena used Dancing On My Own in the first season of Girls, in the most amazing way, i was so happy she asked me if she could put another of my songs in the series. I sent her some music im working on and she picked Honey. It wasnt ready to be released, but we finished this version for her and Girls ❤. Thank you @lenadunham for making this tv-show that flips my brain like a burger like 15 times every episode, i love that feeling! And for bringing up all these emotionally complex situations in such a brilliant way, without making excuses. And thank you for asking me to make music for your work. I wouldnt want to miss out on making music for Adams movie for anything. :) #girls
Dunham also posted about the single, noting that it will appear on Robyn’s upcoming album. Additionally, she said the collaboration was inevitable. “We knew the last season needed some Robyn -- after all, Hannah would not be Hannah without a lot of dancing on her own.”
I'm just as obsessed with the music on Girls as anyone (wrong that I listen to our soundtrack most days in the shower?) and it was the biggest honor to have @robynkonichiwa create a version of a track from her upcoming album just for the show. We knew the last season needed some Robyn- after all, Hannah would not be Hannah without a lot of dancing on her own ❤️ Thank you Robyn, queen of space and sound! Come get your Honey baby --
