Lorde's New Single, 'Green Light' is Dropping Thursday Afternoon

It’s official. Lorde’s new single is called “Green Light” and it’s dropping Thursday (March 2) at 2 p.m. EST.

In a series of tweets by the singer-songwriter, she revealed the final teaser clip for the accompanying music video, which is directed by Grant Singer and features Lorde dancing in strobing green lights. Some stills from the video show a car, sand and neon signs with potential lyrics all illuminated in -- you guessed it -- green light.

The “Royals” singer explained the new single is a change from anything she has released before, and noticeably more upbeat.

There is no confirmed release date for the new record, or even an album title. The teaser videos link to a website (imwaitingforit.com) with the page titled, “M*******A,” hinting at a 9-letter album name.

The release will be her first since her debut record, Pure Heroine, released in September 2013. Since then, she has collaborated with Disclosure for "Magnets," and released “Yellow Flicker Beat” as the lead single from the Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 1 soundtrack.
