Did Lorde Tease Her New Single in New Zealand Ad? Watch
Lorde is definitely getting ready to be back in our lives. In addition to booking a gig on the March 11 Saturday Night Live, the "Royals" singer appeared to debut a taste of new music on Sunday night (Feb. 26) in an ad that ran in her native New Zealand according to the New Zealand Herald. The 15-second spot finds the 20-year-old singer sitting in the back seat of a car enjoying a snack and a soda as a brisk, bright piano run plays in the background.
The cryptic ad ends with the dates "3.2.17 NYC" and "3.3.17 NZ," indicating that a new song might be ready to drop on Thursday. A spokesperson for the singer could not be reached for additional information on the meaning of the dates in the ad at press time.

Rumor has it that Lorde -- who hasn’t released a new album since her 2013 debut LP Pure Heroine peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 -- will be releasing new music just prior to the show’s air date. Lorde has been tweeting out teases about the new album for a year, providing brief glimpses of her studio sessions with fun./Bleachers producer Jack Antonoff and, more recently, getting very vocal about her disdain for the Trump administration and its potential impact on her new sounds.
