Britney Spears arrives at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards at Madison Square Garden on Aug. 28, 2016 in New York City.

Britney Spears shared news on Wednesday (Feb. 8) that her 8-year-old niece Maddie Briann Aldridge is "making progress," following a life-threatening ATV accident over the weekend.

"We are so grateful to share that Maddie is making progress," Spears posted to Twitter. "Thank you all for sending thoughts and prayers our way. Let's all keep praying."

Maddie is the daughter of Britney Spears' younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears. On Sunday, she was hospitalized in critical but stable condition following an accident on their family's Louisiana property where she was trapped underwater in a pond while strapped into the ATV. Jamie Lynn Spears and her husband, Jamie Watson, were watching as it happened.

Maddie regained consciousness on Tuesday, according to a statement to People from a Spears family rep.

"She is aware of her surroundings and recognizes those family members who have kept a round-the-clock vigil since the accident," the statement read. "Doctors were able to remove the ventilator today and she is awake and talking. Maddie continues to receive oxygen and is being monitored closely but it appears that she has not suffered any neurological consequences from the accident."
