D.R.A.M. had the whole world singing about (metaphorical) broccoli in 2016, and now the breakthrough hit could earn the rapper his first Grammy. While the artist born Shelley Massenburg-Smith is clearly thrilled to even be nominated among the likes of Drake, Kanye West and Beyonce, taking home a statue at music's biggest night would be a serious game-changer.
"Winning a Grammy would mean the world to me because music is my life. I wake up, go to sleep, everything in between -- music," D.R.A.M. says in a video, part of Billboard's new Grammy video series. "That’s the highest honor."
Although D.R.A.M. declared that "Broccoli" — which is up for best rap/sung performance — is "unconventional," he had no problem admitting it's also an "outright hit." So when he got the news that The Recording Academy agreed and gave him a nomination, of course he had to commemorate it properly.
