Justin Bieber performs at Fontainebleau Miami Beach's New Years Eve Celebration on Dec. 31, 2016 in Miami Beach, Fla.

A rejuvenated Justin Bieber spread his artistic wings in 2016, thanks partly to off-piste collaborations with Major Lazer, DJ Snake and Post Malone.

There’s a good chance Bieber will continue on that vibe in 2017. And 2 Chainz might be in the mix.

The Atlanta rap legend posted a picture of himself with the Canadian pop star, along with the cryptic message: “New music on the way ??? Take JB to the trap ???”

Though 2 Chainz didn't share any specifics, the tip-off is getting serious traction with the 3 million followers of his Instagram account.

Both artists have kept busy of late. 2 Chainz served up a new mixtape in late October, the seven-track Hibachi For Lunch, one of four projects for the year including the joint Lil Wayne effort ColleGrove, and the mixtapes Felt Like Cappin' and Daniel Son; Necklace Don. And he guested on Cashmere Cat's "Throw Myself a Party," which dropped last Thursday (Dec. 29).

Bieber spent much of last year collecting awards and touring in support of his hit 2015 album Purpose.
