Shawn Mendes Delivers Soothing Cover of Drake's 'Fake Love': Watch

Shawn Mendes is clearly getting excited for Drake's More Life project that's due out sometime this month. The fellow Torontonian visited BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge to perform a soothing take on the early single "Fake Love."

Whereas Drake's original keeps a bouncing energy, Mendes' smoothly strummed his electric guitar to croon out a cover that could rock you to sleep -- in a good way.

Mendes doesn't shy away from song's rapping either. He just takes Drake's trademark style to a further extreme of singing, passionately letting it out with his eyes closed and face intimately pressed against the microphone.

Pop covers are a popular feature of the Live Lounge performances. Recently Kings of Leon covered Selena Gomez's "Hands to Myself," Gallant covered the Chainsmokers' "Closer" and James Bay covered Coldplay's "Hymn for the Weekend."
