Grace VanderWaal Unleashes Stunning Vocals on New Single 'Clay'

Grace VanderWaal broke onto the music scene by stealing viewers’ hearts performing only original music as the eventual winner of America’s Got Talent Season 11. With the release of her debut EP Perfectly Imperfect Friday (Dec. 2) and video for her new folk-pop single “Clay,” it’s abundantly clear VanderWaal isn’t done stealing hearts yet.

The visuals for “Clay” are as sweet and enticing as the understated piano intro, creating a foil to her raspy, soft vocals as they pick up and grow stronger entering the chorus. With her songwriting prowess and vocals reminiscent of a Taylor Swift-Regina Spektor hybrid, it’s hard to believe VanderWaal is a mere 12 years old.

“I had the most amazing time in the studio and I really hope everyone enjoys the EP as much as I enjoyed making it," VanderWaal said. "I want to thank everyone who supported me on AGT, without you I wouldn’t be where I am today and I really can't thank you enough. This is only the beginning.”

With such a strong knack for musical artistry already in her midst and established folk-pop sound, it’s obvious VanderWaal is one to watch.
