After months of a nail-bitting election season, Tuesday (Nov. 8) came as a surprise to many Americans as election results rolled in and later revealed that Donald Trump would take the seat as the 45th president of the United States of America. Trump supporters roared with praise for the newly elected president, while a bevy of Hillary Clinton devotees mourned her presidential loss. This included several celebrity Clinton supporters such as Miley Cyrus, who posted an emotional video clip to Twitter today (Nov. 9), praising Clinton and yielding to "accept" Trump as America's new president-elect.

"I still think that in her lifetime she deserves to be the first female president, and that's what makes me so sad," Cyrus says through tears in the clip. "I just wish that she had that opportunity because she's fought for so long and because I believe her when she says that she loves this country, this is all she's ever done. She's given her life to make it better."

Miley Cyrus has publicly supported Clinton's efforts by rallying young voters at George Mason University and even posted a photo of the Democratic presidential candidate to her Instagram on the eve of the 2016 presidential elections as a final attempt to encourage voters.

"But like Donald Trump so ironically played after his speech and said 'you can't always get what you want' and Happy Hippies we adjust and accept everyone [for] who they are," she laments. "And so Donald Trump I accept you, and this hurts to say but I even accept you as the president of the United States."

Despite being shattered by the outcome, Miley goes on to say that she wants to be a "hopeful hippy" and thanks Barack Obama for presidency. "Mr. Obama, I want to say thank you for everything you've done in the past eight years."

Continuing to choke back tears, Cyrus added, "Please just treat people with compassion and treat people with respect."
