Zayn Malik is one of four stars to cover Highsnobiety Magazine's 13th issue -- which also taps rapper Young Thug, designer Haider Ackerman and entrepreneur Edison Chen as cover stars.

"While Malik may seem outside the scope of Highsnobiety’s usual framework, we were intrigued by his abrupt decision to quit the massively popular UK boy band One Direction and go it alone", the culture website says on their decision to pick Malik for the cover. The issue's central theme is "Independence", especially fitting given the notable figures the fashion and lifestyle brand chose to front its latest installment.

Since his debut as a solo artist, Zayn -- who's breakout single "Pillow Talk" and debut album Mind of Mine both peaked at no.1 on Billboard's Hot 100 and the Billboard 200 chart -- has embarked upon a burgeoning trek unbound from his past boy-band era to create a promising career that exudes exactly what Highsnobiety's issue reflects: independence.

The "Pillow Talk" singer has also feast his eyes on the fashion world as each publication he covers taps into a slew of different style approaches like his summer 2016 cover for Dazed -- where he donned a studded Marc Jacobs motorcycle jacket or his recent Elle UK September 2016 cover wearing everything from a edgy Givenchy leather-fringed jacket to a luxury fur coat. Clad in a Gucci denim jacket on Highsnobiety's latest edition, Malik pockets yet another cover, further solidifying his already impressive path to stardom.

"Reinventing himself and shaping his own identity, Zayn has evolved in sound and style," Highsnobiety boasts. "And though it hasn’t been without tribulation, as a mainstream pop star who is also Muslim, Zayn is a true icon of multiculturalism today."
