Brooklyn's Wingtip Returns With Dizzying New Single 'Rewind': Exclusive Premiere

Daniel Dorsa

Hailed by tastemaker imprint Neon Gold Records (Charli XCX, Christine and the Queens) as "the logical heir to The Knocks' New York Disco throne," Brooklyn-based producer Wingtip (a.k.a. Nick Perloff-Giles) has fully lived up to the hype since his debut last year, releasing a steady stream of disco-tinged singles including standouts "Missing You" and "Eventually," and earning comparisons to the likes of Passion Pit and MGMT.

Today, he returns with his next sucker punch of a single "Rewind," featuring rising NYC-based singer Sophie Strauss, and premiering exclusively via Billboard.

As distorted synths strike with plucky guitar, Strauss' husky ultra-cool vocal lifts the chilled out track to radio-friendly territory, as the hook spins into a rally cry with "let's rewind to where you and I begin."

Inspired by the transition from summer to fall in New York City, Wingtip tells Billboard, "I wrote a song about both the seasons changing and your feelings about someone changing. It's about love and loss, but also just about how things change slowly, and you don't notice until you pick your head up and wonder what happened."
